Objective:

To motivate GEICO Direct representatives and sales counselors to increase productivity and new sales during a two-month period.

GEICO Insurance Sales Promotions - Pepper Post 10/10/13Strategy:

Celebrating GEICO’s first year as a corporate sponsor of a Busch Series NASCAR racing car, the company launched a terrific tie-in sales contest with a NASCAR theme.

Each region was given a budget to throw its own high-energy kickoff rally where they received “GEICO 500” caps, flags and mini tire-pressure key chains. The rallies were hugely popular and very successful in jump-starting the campaign. Games and trivia contests were held at the rallies allowing sales counselors to win stadium seats, smart mugs and race fan kits.

More race-themed promotional items and cash value scratch cards ($2 to $50) awarded for every sale fueled the contest. Grand prizes of $1,000 debit cards were presented to each member of the team that showed the greatest increase in productivity. This was a winning promotion that got off to a roaring start with the kickoff rallies and never slowed down.

Results:

New corporate business increased by 9.4 percent company-wide, and new business increased for an overall productivity of 14.3 percent.
